FAST CGPA Calculator: See Your Score, Gap and Next Target
The FAST CGPA Calculator estimates your semester SGPA, updated cumulative CGPA, repeat-course impact, and the SGPA needed for a future target. It uses FAST-NUCES grade points and credit-hour weighting on a 4.00 scale. Choose BBA/BS, MBA/MS, or PhD, then enter the values from your academic record. Your result appears instantly with quality points and total credits.
One weak semester can change your plan. A simple average can also give the wrong picture. Check whether your next term raises or lowers your CGPA. Test a repeated course and see if your target still fits within the 4.00 limit. Results are estimates and do not replace your official FAST transcript.

How is FAST CGPA calculated?
This FAST CGPA calculator uses a credit-hour weighted average. It multiplies each grade point by its course credits, adds the quality points, and divides by the total attempted credits.
What is the FAST grade scale?
FAST-NUCES uses a 4.00 grade-point scale with plus and minus grades. Enter the letter grade issued for each course rather than converting a percentage yourself.
Is this an official FAST NU GPA calculator app?
This is an independent web-based FAST NU GPA calculator. It works in a mobile browser without an APK, GitHub project, or app download, but your official transcript remains final.
Can this calculator confirm an academic warning?
No. It compares an estimate with the selected program threshold, but it cannot access your official record or determine your university warning count.
FAST-NUCES Grade Points and Academic Codes
A short introduction explaining that the calculator uses official letter-grade point values. State clearly that it does not convert raw percentages into grades.
| Letter Grade | Grade Point |
|---|---|
| A+ | 4.00 |
| A | 4.00 |
| A- | 3.67 |
| B+ | 3.33 |
| B | 3.00 |
| B- | 2.67 |
| C+ | 2.33 |
| C | 2.00 |
| C- | 1.67 |
| D+ | 1.33 |
| D | 1.00 |
| F | 0.00 |
Important: Grade points are fixed, but quality points depend on course credit hours. Multiply the grade point by the course credits to calculate quality points.
What About FA, I, W, and Other Codes?
Briefly explain:
- FA carries 0.00 and relates to attendance shortage.
- CR, I, and W do not enter GPA calculations.
- S and U apply to PhD thesis work and do not affect CGPA.
- The calculator does not currently accept these special codes.
Does FAST Convert Percentage Directly Into GPA?
Answer no universal percentage conversion is built into this calculator. Users should enter the letter grade shown on their official course result. Do not recreate the removed percentage ranges here.
Important: Grade points are fixed, but the meaning and academic acceptance of a grade may differ by program. Your official transcript and current FAST academic rules remain final.
What Your FAST SGPA or CGPA Means
The FAST CGPA Calculator result shows your credit-weighted academic performance. SGPA measures one semester. CGPA reflects all counted courses so far.
Your selected program adds the right benchmark. It does not change the score.
Understanding Your Result
An SGPA shows how well the entered semester went. A high SGPA can raise your cumulative result. Its impact depends on the semester credit hours.
An updated CGPA shows your estimated standing after adding new courses. Earlier grades still carry weight, so one strong term may cause only a small change.
A revised CGPA shows the effect of repeating one course. The latest grade can increase or decrease your result.
Quick CGPA mode gives the same type of cumulative estimate. It uses a known semester SGPA instead of separate course grades.
Is Your Result Good or Bad?
Compare CGPA with the threshold for your degree:
- BBA and BS students need at least 2.00.
- MBA and MS students need at least 2.50.
- PhD students need at least 3.00.
A result below your threshold needs attention. Meeting the minimum is safer, but it may leave little room for another weak semester.
A 2.90 CGPA is above the BBA, BS, MBA, and MS minimums. It remains below the PhD threshold. Whether it is good also depends on your scholarship, graduation, or career goal.
For bachelor’s students, a semester SGPA from 3.50 to 3.99 may meet the numerical Dean’s List condition. A 4.00 SGPA may meet the Rector’s List condition. The regular study load still matters.
Remember that warning status depends on CGPA. A low SGPA alone does not confirm an official warning.

What You Should Do Next
- Check every grade and credit hour against your record.
- Use the target planner when your CGPA is near the minimum.
- Test repeat courses with both realistic and lower grades.
- Contact your department if the official CGPA is below the threshold.
Focus on high-credit courses when planning improvement. They move the weighted average more than low-credit courses.
Quick Repeat-Course Example to Test
Select BBA / BS and open Repeat Course mode.
Enter:
- Current CGPA: 2.35
- Attempted credits: 54
- Course credit hours: 3
- Earlier grade: D, worth 1.00
- Most recent grade: B, worth 3.00
The calculator returns an estimated 2.46 CGPA.
Your result rises by 0.111 points. The better grade helps, but one three-credit course cannot cause a large jump after 54 attempted credits.
For BBA or BS, 2.46 is above the 2.00 threshold. The same result would remain below the 2.50 MBA or MS threshold.

Try calculatorHow to Use the FAST CGPA Calculator
The FAST CGPA Calculator follows the same credit-weighted process across its four modes. Your chosen mode controls which values the tool needs. The selected degree program only changes the benchmark shown beside the result. It does not change the GPA calculation.

Select Your Degree Program
Choose BBA/BS, MBA/MS, or PhD. This sets the comparison point used in the result message. The current benchmarks are 2.00 for BBA/BS, 2.50 for MBA/MS, and 3.00 for PhD. Your program choice does not raise or lower the calculated score.
Choose the Right Mode
Pick FAST SGPA for one semester. Use Updated CGPA when adding new courses to your past record. Repeat Course tests how a newer grade changes your CGPA. Quick CGPA combines your current CGPA with a semester SGPA you already know.
Enter Your Academic Values
Add the grades and credit hours shown on your record. Updated and Quick CGPA modes also need your current CGPA and completed credits. Repeat Course mode needs the earlier grade and recent grade. Every started course row must include both credits and a grade.
Run the Calculation
The tool changes each letter grade into its FAST grade point. It then weights that value by the course credits. Completed quality points and credit hours are combined based on the selected mode. The final SGPA or CGPA appears to two decimal places.
Review and Plan Your Target
Check the result label, total credits, quality points, and program comparison. Updated and Quick CGPA modes also open the Target CGPA Planner. Enter a future target and planned credits. The tool shows the required SGPA or warns when the target needs more than 4.00.
Quick Example to Test
Try these sample values in the calculator:
- Degree Program: BBA / BS
- Calculation Mode: FAST SGPA
- Course 1: Programming Fundamentals
- Credit Hours: 3
- Grade: A- (3.67)
- Course 2: Data Structures
- Credit Hours: 4
- Grade: B+ (3.33)
- Course 3: Calculus
- Credit Hours: 3
- Grade: B (3.00)
- Course 4: Communication Skills
- Credit Hours: 2Grade: C+ (2.33)
Result:
Your estimated FAST-NUCES SGPA is 3.17.
The calculator counts 12 semester credits and 37.99 quality points.
For a BBA or BS student, this SGPA sits above the selected 2.00 benchmark. It shows a solid semester, but only your full CGPA can confirm your cumulative standing.
Now enter your own FAST grades and credit hours. Check how each course changes your semester result.
Accuracy and Method Behind the FAST CGPA Calculator
The FAST CGPA Calculator uses FAST-NUCES grade points and credit-hour weighting. Separate calculation paths handle semester SGPA, updated CGPA, repeat courses, and future targets. Built-in checks block incomplete or invalid data. Results remain estimates because a rounded current CGPA may differ slightly from the university’s stored quality points.
Key Features & Benefits
- Uses the FAST 4.00 grade scale with plus and minus grades.
- Weights every course by its entered credit hours.
- Keeps SGPA, cumulative CGPA, and repeat results separate.
- Checks missing fields, invalid ranges, and impossible targets.
- Shows quality points and credits behind the final estimate.
Technical Process
Input Capture
Shows quality points and credits behind the final estimate.
Logic Processing
Each mode follows its own weighted calculation path. Repeat mode removes earlier course points and adds the most recent grade points.
Result Output
The tool returns a two-decimal result with total credits, quality points, and useful context. Official university records remain the final source.
How the FAST CGPA Calculator Formula Works (Complete Breakdown)
The FAST CGPA Calculator uses credit-weighted formulas instead of a simple average. Each grade carries more or less weight based on its course credits. Separate formulas calculate semester SGPA, updated CGPA, repeat-course impact, Quick CGPA, and the SGPA needed for a future target.
FAST SGPA Formula
SGPA = Σ(Grade Point × Course Credits) ÷ Σ(Semester Credits)
This formula calculates one semester’s result. Each grade point is multiplied by its course credits. The calculator adds those quality points, then divides them by the semester’s total credits.
Variables Used
Grade Point
The grade point is the number linked to the FAST letter grade. A+ and A equal 4.00. A- equals 3.67, while F equals 0.00. A manual value must stay between 0.00 and 4.00.
Course Credits
Course credits show how much weight one subject carries. A four-credit course affects SGPA more than a two-credit course with the same grade.
Quality Points
Quality points are the weighted value of one course. They equal the course grade point multiplied by its credit hours.
Semester Credits
Semester credits are the total credit hours entered in FAST SGPA mode. Only complete course rows count toward this total.
Updated CGPA Formula
Previous Quality Points = Current CGPA × Previous Credits New Quality Points = Σ(New Grade Point × New Course Credits) Updated CGPA = (Previous Quality Points + New Quality Points) ÷ (Previous Credits + New Semester Credits)
This path adds current semester courses to your earlier academic history. It rebuilds the quality points behind your current CGPA, then combines them with the new course values.
Variables Used
Current CGPA
Current CGPA is the cumulative result shown before adding the new semester. The accepted range is 0.00 to 4.00.
Previous Credits
Previous credits are the attempted credit hours already included in the current CGPA. They must be greater than zero.
New Grade Point
A new grade point is the value assigned to a current semester course. It comes from the selected FAST grade or a valid manual entry.
New Course Credits
New course credits are the credit hours for each current semester subject. These values control how strongly each grade changes the updated CGPA.
New Quality Points
New quality points are the combined weighted points from all complete current semester courses.
New Semester Credits
New semester credits are the total credit hours entered for the courses being added to the cumulative record.
Repeat-Course Formula
Current Quality Points = Current CGPA × Attempted Credits Earlier Course Quality Points = Earlier Grade Point × Course Credits Recent Course Quality Points = Recent Grade Point × Course Credits Revised Quality Points = Current Quality Points - Earlier Course Quality Points + Recent Course Quality Points Revised CGPA = Revised Quality Points ÷ Attempted Credits CGPA Change = Revised CGPA - Current CGPA
This formula removes the earlier course points and adds the most recent grade points. Attempted credits stay unchanged because the course already exists within the cumulative record.
A better recent grade may raise CGPA. A lower recent grade may reduce it.
Variables Used
Attempted Credits
Attempted credits are the total credits already included in the current CGPA. The repeated course credits cannot exceed this value.
Course Credits
Course credits are the credit hours assigned to the repeated subject. The same value is used for both grade attempts.
Earlier Grade Point
The earlier grade point is the value currently included in the CGPA. It may range from 0.00 for F to 4.00 for A or A+.
Recent Grade Point
The recent grade point is the new or expected value for the repeated course. This value replaces the earlier points in the estimate.
Revised Quality Points
Revised quality points are the cumulative points left after removing the earlier course value and adding the recent one.
CGPA Change
CGPA change shows the difference between the revised result and the entered current CGPA. A positive value means an increase. A negative value means a decrease.
Quick CGPA Formula
Current Quality Points = Current CGPA × Previous Credits Semester Quality Points = New SGPA × Semester Credits Quick CGPA = (Current Quality Points + Semester Quality Points) ÷ (Previous Credits + Semester Credits)
Quick CGPA mode works when you already know the new semester SGPA. It weights the current CGPA and new SGPA by their credit hours before combining them.
Variables Used
New SGPA
New SGPA is the known or expected semester result. It must stay between 0.00 and 4.00.
Semester Credits
Semester credits are the credit hours linked to the new SGPA. More credits give that semester greater influence on the combined result.
Current Quality Points
Current quality points are estimated by multiplying the entered CGPA by its completed credit hours.
Semester Quality Points
Semester quality points show the weighted value of the new semester. They equal the semester SGPA multiplied by its credits.
Target CGPA Formula
Required Future Quality Points = Target CGPA × (Current Credits + Planned Credits) Required SGPA = (Required Future Quality Points - Current Quality Points) ÷ Planned Credits
This formula finds the semester SGPA needed to reach a future CGPA target. The planner appears only after Updated CGPA or Quick CGPA mode.
Variables Used
Target CGPA
Target CGPA is the cumulative score you want after the planned semester. It must stay between 0.00 and 4.00.
Current Credits
Current credits are the total credit hours included in the calculated cumulative result.
Planned Credits
Planned credits are the hours you expect to take next semester. The value must be greater than zero.
Current Quality Points
Current quality points are the weighted points behind the cumulative result produced by the calculator.
Required Future Quality Points
Required future quality points are the total points needed to finish the planned semester at the selected target CGPA.
Required SGPA
Required SGPA is the semester result needed across the planned credits. A value above 4.00 means the target is mathematically impossible in one semester.
Formula Clarification
Do not calculate FAST CGPA by:
- Adding semester GPAs and dividing by the number of semesters
- Averaging the current CGPA and new SGPA without credit hours
- Treating every course as if it has equal weight
- Converting percentages with a generic CGPA multiplier
- Adding repeated course credits to the total twice
- Keeping both the earlier and recent grade points
Credit hours control the weight of every grade. That is why two students with the same letter grades may receive different results when their course credits differ.
How Do You Calculate FAST CGPA?
Calculate FAST CGPA by multiplying each grade point by its course credits, adding all quality points, and dividing by total attempted credits. When adding a new semester, combine its weighted points with your previous CGPA history. Repeated courses replace earlier course points with the most recent grade points.
How Does a New Semester Change a 2.80 FAST CGPA?
A student wants to add four completed courses to an existing academic record.
Input
Current CGPA: 2.80
Previous Attempted Credits: 42
- Object-Oriented Programming
- Credits: 3
- Grade: A- (3.67)
- Quality Points: 11.01
- Database Systems
- Credits: 4
- Grade: B (3.00)
- Quality Points: 12.00
- Linear Algebra
- Credits: 3
- Grade: B- (2.67)
- Quality Points: 8.01
- Technical Writing
- Credits: 2
- Grade: A (4.00)
- Quality Points: 8.00
Process
Previous quality points:
2.80 × 42 = 117.60
New semester quality points:
11.01 + 12.00 + 8.01 + 8.00 = 39.02
Updated CGPA:
(117.60 + 39.02) ÷ (42 + 12) = 2.90037
Result
- Estimated Updated CGPA: 2.90
- Total Attempted Credits: 54
- Total Quality Points: 156.62
Meaning
The new semester raises the CGPA from 2.80 to 2.90. Strong grades help, but the previous 42 credits still carry most of the weight.
What SGPA Is Needed to Raise a 1.88 CGPA to 2.50?
A student has completed a strong semester but still wants to plan the next recovery target.
Input
- Current CGPA: 1.88
- Previous Attempted Credits: 30
- New Semester SGPA: 3.20
- Semester Credits: 15
Process
Combined CGPA:
[(1.88 × 30) + (3.20 × 15)] ÷ 45 = 2.32
Use the Target CGPA Planner with:
Target CGPA: 2.50
Planned Credits: 15
Required SGPA:
[2.50 × (45 + 15) – 104.40] ÷ 15 = 3.04
Result
- Estimated Current CGPA: 2.32
- Required Next SGPA: 3.04
Meaning
The 3.20 semester lifts the cumulative result above 2.00. A 3.04 SGPA across the next 15 credits would raise the estimate to 2.50.
How Much Can Repeating a Four-Credit Course Raise CGPA?
A student repeats a course and improves from C- to A-.
Input
- Current CGPA: 2.60
- Attempted Credits: 72
- Repeated Course Credits: 4
- Earlier Grade: C- (1.67)
- Most Recent Grade: A- (3.67)
Process
Current quality points:
2.60 × 72 = 187.20
Replace the earlier course points:
Earlier Points = 4 × 1.67 = 6.68
Recent Points = 4 × 3.67 = 14.68
Revised Points = 187.20 – 6.68 + 14.68 = 195.20
Revised CGPA:
195.20 ÷ 72 = 2.71111
Result
- Estimated Revised CGPA: 2.71
- CGPA Change: +0.111
- Revised Quality Points: 195.20
Meaning
The better grade raises the CGPA by about 0.11 points. The attempted credits stay at 72 because the course already exists in the academic record.
What SGPA Comes From Mixed FAST Grades?
Input
- Algorithms
- Credits: 3
- Grade: B+ (3.33)
- Quality Points: 9.99
- Operating Systems
- Credits: 4
- Grade: C (2.00)
- Quality Points: 8.00
- Probability
- Credits: 3
- Grade: A (4.00)
- Quality Points: 12.00
- Computing Lab
- Credits: 1
- Grade: D+ (1.33)
- Quality Points: 1.33
- Software Engineering
- Credits: 3
- Grade: B- (2.67)
- Quality Points: 8.01
Process
Total Quality Points = 9.99 + 8.00 + 12.00 + 1.33 + 8.01
Total Quality Points = 39.33
SGPA = 39.33 ÷ 14
SGPA = 2.80929
Result
- Estimated FAST SGPA: 2.81
- Semester Credits: 14
- Quality Points: 39.33
Meaning
The A and B+ help offset the C and D+. The four-credit Operating Systems course has a strong effect because it carries the most credits.

FAST CGPA Result Benchmarks Explained
Your FAST CGPA Calculator result must be compared with your degree program. A score may meet the BBA/BS minimum but remain below the MBA/MS or PhD requirement. Use this table to check your position and decide whether to maintain, improve, or plan recovery.
| CGPA Range | Label | BBA / BS Guide | MBA / MS / PhD Guide | What It Means |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3.00–4.00 | Above Thresholds | Above the 2.00 undergraduate minimum. | Above MBA/MS minimum and meets the 3.00 PhD threshold. | Protect this range and check any scholarship or honor requirements separately. |
| 2.00–2.99 | Check Program | Meets the BBA/BS minimum from 2.00 upward. | MBA/MS needs 2.50; PhD needs 3.00. | Compare the exact score with your degree threshold before making a plan. |
| Below 2.00 | Below Minimum | Below the undergraduate minimum benchmark. | Below the MBA/MS and PhD minimum benchmarks. | Check your official record and estimate the SGPA needed for recovery. |
Heads-up: FAST uses different minimum CGPA thresholds by degree. Dean's List and Rector's List depend on semester SGPA, regular course load, and other university conditions.
Interpretation
A CGPA of 3.00 or higher meets the calculator’s minimum benchmark for all three program groups. Results from 2.00 to 2.99 need degree-specific checking.
A 2.30 CGPA meets the BBA/BS benchmark but not the MBA/MS minimum. A 2.80 meets both undergraduate and master’s minimums, yet remains below the PhD threshold.
Pro Tip
Use the Target CGPA Planner when your score sits near the minimum. Test a realistic semester load and required SGPA.
Focus on high-credit courses. They move a weighted CGPA more than low-credit subjects.

Try calculatorFrequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why Does My FAST CGPA Calculator Result Differ From My Transcript?
A small difference can happen when your current CGPA is rounded to two decimal places. The FAST CGPA Calculator rebuilds quality points from that rounded value. Your university record may use more precise stored points, excluded grades, or later updates. Treat the transcript as the final result.
Can I Convert FAST CGPA Into a Percentage for a Job Application?
This calculator does not convert FAST CGPA into a percentage. A fixed rule such as multiplying CGPA by 25 may not match every employer or institution. Use the CGPA shown on your transcript. Ask the receiving organization which conversion method or equivalence document it accepts.
Why Does the Target CGPA Planner Say My Goal Is Impossible?
The planner shows an impossible result when the required future SGPA exceeds 4.00. This means the selected CGPA target cannot be reached within the planned credit hours. Lower the target, increase the number of future credits, or plan improvement across more than one semester.
Can I Plan My FAST CGPA Across More Than One Future Semester?
The Target CGPA Planner calculates one planned semester at a time. Enter the expected credits for your next term and review the required SGPA. For a longer plan, calculate the first semester, use its estimated CGPA as your new starting value, then test the following term.
Can a Valid FAST Semester SGPA Be 0.00?
Yes. A semester containing only F grades produces a valid 0.00 SGPA because each F contributes zero quality points. The completed course credits still count in the semester total. Check every entered grade before accepting the result, since one missed selection could also cause an incomplete-row error.
